The “Casinhas da Eira” project consists in the creation of a country house-like environment, in a Beira village, in a prime location with strong historical and cultural appeal of Paranho de Arca, in the heart of Serra do Caramulo. This project came to fill the lack of accommodation offers in Serra do Caramulo, as the region has very few lodgings, and there are no nearby ventures with the characteristics that we installed.
The tourism in the interior of Portugal, namely in rural areas, has experienced substantial growth, and gastronomical, cultural and architectural products, which the Dão Lafões region and, in particular, Serra do Caramulo are rich in, they naturally benefit from the growing interest in tourism in the interior of Portugal.
Tourism is often seen as a sector with high potential to stimulate the development of rural areas, whose specific characteristics (scenic, environmental, and socio-cultural) are increasingly valued.
The interest in shared vacations has led to an increase in short-term stays on a regional scale, with the most accessible rural areas as the destinations. These regions are increasingly sought after as tourist destinations, and the added benefit that the experience can be enjoyed all year round increases interest and boosts growth.
As the historical and cultural heritage, the scenery, and the people can be reached regardless of the season, rural tourism allows constant visits by tourists at any time of the year, thus maintaining tourism and combating seasonality.
